Furla Series #04
Liberamente and Stereotypes
Special activities for elementary and high schools
LIBERAMENTE
Fun visit for elementary schools – duration 90’
Let’s play with a critical spirit, among works of art and words, exploring the creative world of Andrea Bowers, an American artist who shows us how art, through the aesthetic power of its language, can convey socially important messages such as gender equality and respect for all diversity, culture and identity. Using our minds and bodies freely, we will interrogate the works in the exhibition and in the permanent collection to solve a group cross-puzzle that, at the end of the journey, will lead us to unveil a message from the artist.
STEREOTYPES
Participatory visit for high schools – duration 90’
Andrea Bowers’s extraordinary works in the exhibition address the issue of women’s emancipation and lead us on a journey that invites reflection on gender stereotypes. The dialogue between Bowers’s contemporary works and some of GAM’s masterpieces—including Previati’s Maternità and Pellizza da Volpedo’s The Fourth Estate—will yield many different ways of viewing the female figure, in her multiple roles, actively involving young people in a discussion on self-representation and the construction of identity.
