Adelaide Cioni

The 2025 edition renews the collaboration between Arte Fiera and Fondazione Furla for the live performance program curated by Bruna Roccasalva, the Artistic Director of Fondazione Furla. This liaison confirms the intention of the two institutions to work together in the field of performance, a part of Arte Fiera since its earliest editions and an essential aspect of the event.
Following previous editions, which presented performances by the Israeli collective Public Movement in 2023 and the Peruvian artist Daniela Ortiz in 2024, the featured artist for the new edition is Adelaide Cioni (Bologna, 1976), invited by Fondazione Furla and Bruna Roccasalva to present a performance during Arte Fiera 2025.
Cioni’s research moves within a field of investigation that is centered on drawing but includes different forms of expression, such as painting, music, dance and theatre. Starting from a reflection on the origins of sign, the artist explores the recurrence of abstract decorative motifs – patterns – both in nature and in artistic artefacts from all epochs, reworking them within a practice that, moving from actual drawing, becomes an investigation into colour and form, body and language, space and movement.

Adelaide Cioni (Bologna, 1976) studied drawing at UCLA, Los Angeles, and graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome (2015). With master’s degrees in contemporary history and literary translation, she translated American literature for ten years before devoting herself entirely to her artistic practice. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and exhibited with solo shows in galleries and public institutions in Italy and abroad. Her most recent performance works include Touch Song, Southwood Gardens, Piccadilly, London (2024); Song for a Square, a Circle, a Triangle, Mimosa House, London (2023); and Prayers to Jupiter, Memmo Foundation/Gasworks, London (2022).
