The fourth edition of Premio Querini-FURLA per l’arte, one of the most important annual events for young Italian artists, spotlighted the works by Pierpaolo Campanini, Sarah Ciracì, Stefania Galegati, Massimo Grimaldi and Domenico Mangano, displayed at Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice. The finalists were shortlisted based on the audio-visual material provided by 50 artists invited to participate by a national jury. A second, international jury made up by top-ranking critics, museum directors and curators, chose the winner, Massimo Grimaldi.
Created thanks to the active collaboration between Venice’s Fondazione Querini Stampalia and FURLA, Premio Querini-FURLA per l’arte gained public and critical acclaim thanks to its seriousness, continuity and positive results, cementing its reputation as the most important initiative for the understanding and promotion of young Italian art both at home and abroad.
To that end, the Prize, conceived with the precise aim to promote Italian contemporary artistic talent through extensive research, supported the artists in building their international status and visibility, offering them the opportunity to showcase their work in Italian and foreign museums.
The “godfather” of the fourth edition was Michelangelo Pistoletto, whose theme of the edition was based on a play on the word fame – the Italian for “hunger” counterpointed by its English meaning.
